WHERE TO STAY

Motel One Berlin - right across the street from the central train station, so very easy to get around the city from there. In addition, the hotel is very nice and reasonably priced.

The Metropol Hostel is an excellent low-cost accommodation alternative. It is right on a U-Bahn stop, and has wonderful, if basic, facilities.
